Apple fans have more reason to rejoice, as Apple launches the new iPad in more countries. This Friday, the company started offering the third-generation iPad in several Asian countries, including Malaysia and South Korea.
Apple usually launches its new products in the bigger markets, which include the U.S. and key cities around the world. Other territories have to wait weeks or even months, depending on the local distributorship in these regions. In the Asia and Pacific, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia were fortunate to get first dibs on the new iPad. This week, Apple has launched the iPad 3 in South Korea, Malyasia and Brunei.
Other countries included in the Friday launch are Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, St. Marteen, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Although the new iPad is available for pre-order in most markets, prospective buyers still chose to queue at the official Apple Stores or authorized resellers. Pre-ordering will require a wait of five to seven days before product delivery, which adds to the appeal of actually lining up at the store, reports The Next Web. Korean buyers can also get their iPads from telcos like KT Telecom and SK Telecom.
Additionally, the new iPad is priced differently depending on market. In Malaysia, tax discounts mean that the new iPad costs US$ 10 less than U.S. prices. However, the new iPad costs US$ 40 higher in Brunei than Malaysia. In Korea, meanwhile, the iPad is a hot item, even outselling the Galaxy Tab, which is marketed by local company Samsung.
Apple will be launching the new iPad in 50 markets worldwide this coming April 27, including India, Israel, and Thailand.
