Lenovo is launching new smartphones, and has selected key Asian markets as part of its pilot program. In particular, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia — along with Russia — have been selected to be the first markets where the latest smartphones from the Chinese brand will be released outside of its home country.
The Chinese PC manufacturer says these markets are best-suited for carrying Lenovo’s new launches, and will help gauge market acceptance. “We believe Lenovo Mobile is perfectly situated to take advantage of the explosive growth in the smart phone business because we offer best-in-value devices to our target consumers,” says John Rojo of Lenovo’s Mobile division.
Lenovo’s latest Android-powered smartphones will launch this June, which includes the K800 currently available only in the Chinese market. This particular model is notable for its use of an Intel Medfield-class System-on-Chip architecture platform, compared wit the ARM processors common among other smartphone platforms.
Lenovo plans to release at least 40 new smartphone models to the market within 2012.
