Over at the ongoing Echelon conference in Singapore, Evernote has shared their expansion plans in the Asia Pacific region, which includes setting up datacenter facilities to cater to the 40% of its userbase from here. Our own Goutama Bachtiar, who is senior contributor at E27, interviewed Evernote executives: VP of International Operations Dmitry Stavisky and APAC General Manager Troy Malone.
Malone said that the APAC region is very social, with enthusiastic members.
We will support any activities to foster the user base growth through community building and continue our geographical expansions. Instead of relying on the word-of-mouth power, our social media channels definitely will always play important role.
Evernote has also setup shop in China, noting a strong support from the government. The company has had to change branding, though, given the difficulty for Mandarin speakers to say “Evernote.” As such, the service was launched as “Yinxiang Biji,” which means “memory notes.”
China Daily says the service gets about 12,000 new signups per day.
The two Evernote executives will be in Jakarta to attend a book launching about Evernote itself. The Evernote Blog will also have a local version in Indonesia, authored in Bahasa Indonesia.
